Our Himalayan combination brings together three ways of travelling through three vastly different environments. For nine days we trek the mountain routes, gazing out at the huge Himalayan peaks. Once leg muscles are in shape it's time to hone the arms and we journey down to begin 2 ½ days of rafting on the Trisuli river. This is a lovely way to complete the relaxation that mountain air and walking begins and as you float down the river you can sit back and watch locals at work on the river, see the animals that live on the banks and work on your tan. But you can't drift along for the whole trip.

There are times when some fast paddling is called for, as your raft speeds down the rapids. Coursing over rocks and whirlpools can be an exhilarating.

Rafting finishes a short distance from the Gaida Wildlife Park, where the remaining 2 ½ days of this combination are spent. There you can ride elephants through the jungle, watch rhinos (from a safe distance), canoe in dug-outs through crocodile inhabited waters or just sit in the sun and think of all the stories you have to tell your friends when you return home.

You can be there. Our guide will lead you through the country as only a Tibetan speaking Buddhist can. With your guide, you can journey to Lhasa, the spiritual and temporal capital of Tibet. Visit the Potala, the Dalai Lama's winter palace. Join the devout pilgrims circumnavigating the palace. You can also visit the Norbulinga palace and the Jokhang temple.
